Nintendo 3DS is Pretty in Red and Single For The Holidays
Nintendo turned a lot of heads when they unveiled the 3DS at last year’s E3. They showed off a ton of great games and an impressive list of developers working on said titles; however, the titles they announced were still under development, and all the features they promoted were only crawling into the system. This unsettled early adopters and deterred people to buy into the new system, instead sticking with their 2DS. This in turn shook up Nintendo’s investors, and after a serious sit down, The Big N announced a price drop less than 6 months into the new system’s life, and to keep fans from causing problems – such as London rioters – they announced the Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Program, which means if you bought a 3DS at launch or get your system to check into the eShop before 11:59 PM on August 11 (that’s tomorrow, bro), they will give you twenty free games. Just to prove they’re serious, Nintendo has made this offer available to every region worldwide.
In recent news, and in anticipation of selling hard for the Holidays, Nintendo announced the Flame Red 3DS, which will launch on September 9th with Starfox 64 3D - an enhanced version of the Nintendo 64 game originally released in 1997. By then the price drop will have taken full effect and the doors to the Ambassador Program will be locked shut. With the PSVita many months away and Nintendo’s brash actions to save face on all fronts, it seems that the 3DS is set up for a victory this holiday season, but only time and fans will tell.
